Major League Baseball’s Newest Team

Introduction

Major League Baseball has hired you to find a new city and mascot for a new professional baseball team.  After conducting research on what makes a good MLB Hometown you will announce your new team to the world.  Don’t be concerned you do not need to be a baseball fan to complete this assignment.

The Task

You will fill out a map, landform chart, and also write a press release announcing your new Major League Baseball Team.

The Process

Step 1: Locate and Label (on the map) all of the cities where MLB Teams are located.  These are the cities from Step #2

Step 2: For each MLB City list the landform that is located nearest the city.  Hint:  Most of the landforms will be major bodies of water

Step 3: Choose a new city and mascot for your new MLB Baseball Team and fill out the press release form.

• Choose a city with over 100,000 people –  Cities over 100.000 People

• This city must be next to a major landform.
• Choose a mascot that is related to the landform (Example – Peoria is next to the Illinois River so their mascot is the Peoria Riverman)
• Fill out the Press Release form and write a 5 sentence paragraph explaining why you chose the city, landform, and mascot.
